About PAC

Our History

In February of 1962, the Portuguese Athletic Club started as a community institution that met the expectations of the new immigrants, giving it a project that was at the same time a link with their original tastes, habits, traditions and a meeting place where they could easily put down the load of acculturation and share experiences in order to better prepare themselves for the daily challenges in a society that brought new realities to those who were raised on a small island.

The P.A.C. conceived originally as a sports group dedicated to soccer, soon became a social institution for the families that participated in it. Later, it evolved into cultural activities, forming the trident that nowadays an integral part of the club's identity, through sports, social and cultural sections which keep alive the flame of a club that is unique in the Portuguese community.

In The 1970's, P.A.C. won 3 Northern California US Amateur cups and 2 Northwest US Open cup titles.

Today, 52 years later, the P.A.C. consists of 38 youth teams, an over 50, over 35 and an open amateur team, that is open to all races interested in playing soccer and joining this deeply rooted community club. With a small annual budget, the P.A.C. soccer program has its driving force, the volunteering of parents, coaches and the Club's support with respect to it's functioning infrastructure.

Several teams have reached and won Nor-cal state championships, US club regional championships, US Club National Finalists, CYSA State Championships, Far-west appearances and Championships, Dallas Cup qrt final and Semi final appearances, along with countless tournaments and league championships.

It is safe to say that P.A.C. develops a lot of talented players in our community. On top of the team accolades, you can count 4 US Youth National team residents, several Olympic Development Players, Player Developmental Program, US Development Academy transfers and several collegiate players with soccer scholarships.

With the hard work of an all volunteer board and staff, P.A.C. is happy to know it can develop players at a high level and compete with other clubs across the country and internationally, at a low cost.
